Corporate Social Responsibility

Mastek takes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) very seriously. The keystone of our CSR initiative is the Mastek Foundation, which seeks to "inspire global communities to make a difference through informed giving and responsible receiving". The idea behind the foundation is not only to facilitate monitory donations to social causes, but also to educate employees on informed giving, create awareness about various issues lingering in the society, and to provide physical volunteering opportunities not only to Mastekeers but also others outside Mastek. In addition, the foundation helps NGOs to become more efficient, transparent and accountable and streamline their operations by helping them inculcate best practices in governance.

Mastek aims to be a catalyst in the transformation of underprivileged groups, and it is our business philosophy to do so in a manner that is ethical and transparent to all our stakeholders.

Our CSR initiatives are not just aimed at creating a "feel-good" factor. We measure our contribution to society with specific and measurable targets, such as the number of volunteering hours and amount of payroll funds contributed. We use employee engagement with CSR and the impact of our activities on the community as key parameters for our CSR initiatives.

Mastek Foundation Initiatives:

Mastek Foundation initiatives aim to make a Mastek employee a holistic human being, connected with the community and sensitised and aware of community issues, and not just a professional. We organise volunteering activities regularly to bring the Mastek employee closer to the community.

Mastek Foundation undertakes a host of activities inline to its charter of 'Informed Giving Responsible Receiving'. We participate in a multitude of meaningful social campaigns, organise events covering a range of community issues and encourage active volunteer service to the society.

Payroll Giving Programme

The Foundation's Payroll Giving Programme enables employees to contribute to the social cause of their choice in a simple manner. A Mastek employee can choose the cause (women & girl child, education, health & disability or environment & community development) to which they wish to donate, and the amount is deducted accordingly from their salaries.

This programme has been running for over four years, with more than 60% employees actively contributing. We encourage them to donate a mere 1% of their remuneration.

Volunteering Programme

  • Extensive Sensitisation Programmes through one time volunteering activities as celebration of important days on the world calendar. For example, World Water Day(22nd March) was celebrated by donating physical labour 'Shramdaan' for rain harvesting project of The Bridge Trust. Other activities include Tree Plantation Drives and exposure visits to NGOs.
  • Supporting the Lighting a Billion Lives campaign of The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) by adopting a village for solar lighting.
  • Regular on campus Blood Donation Drives in order to support Thalesemic children.
  • Clothes Donation Drives at our offices.
  • NGO product exhibitions at office locations.
  • Organise competitions for employees & their family members which is a different way of introducing them to newer social / world issues.
  • Celebration of festivals with NGO children/senior citizen, etc.
  • India Volunteer Portal: To take volunteering activities beyond Mastek, and provide opportunities to people to volunteer, Mastek has launched www.Indiavolunteerportal.org in partnership with IndianNGOs.com. The portal enables the general public to seek and register for volunteering opportunities, offer their services, and share their core competencies with NGOs.
