Thales UK says it has awarded a subcontract to Mastek under a deal to support the British Ministry of Defense's air movement operations capabilities.
Thales, an electronics and systems group in the defense, aerospace and security markets, announced it will lead the team now including Mastek, Fujitsu Services and Flyware to support the Defense Information Infrastructure for the British Ministry of Defense. Officials say the team has developed a software solution called Swift2Move that will manage the Defense Ministry's schedule of the global air movements of troops and cargo over the DII.
"We chose Mastek for their innovation and solutions capability, which has been pivotal to the deal," Robert Pye, Thales vice president, business development and strategy, said in a statement. "This agreement is a testament to the way Thales and Mastek have worked together to secure this Ministry of Defense contract and will allow both companies to exploit the extensive opportunities that exist in the global defense market for innovative solutions to expeditionary military deployment."
Officials say the 10-year, $53.7 million contract is expected to handle the Defense Ministry's military logistics and defense asset to provide greater efficiency, automation and information governance.
